What is Facer?

Facer is the world’s largest platform for custom smartwatch faces, empowering a global community of creators and enthusiasts. We’re looking for a skilled iOS Engineer to join us on a contract basis to help shape and expand Facer’s presence on Apple Watch.

Role Overview

Location: Remote
Type: Contract, with potential to convert to a full-time engineering role

As an iOS Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in modernizing Facer’s Apple Watch capabilities. This includes leveraging the latest standards and overcoming platform constraints to deliver a seamless user experience. The role demands creative problem-solving and technical expertise in watchOS development.

Responsibilities

• Upgrade Facer's watchOS features to align with modern standards.

• Optimize performance to meet memory, CPU, and network constraints unique to watchOS.

• Collaborate with the team to ensure smooth integration with Facer’s platform.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of professional experience as an iOS Engineer.

• Strong experience with WidgetKit and ClockKit on Apple Watch.

• Proven ability to dive into an existing complex codebase and modernize it

• In-depth understanding of watchOS constraints, including memory and CPU quotas.

• Proven ability to think outside the box and devise innovative, unconventional solutions to overcome platform limitations and constraints.

Bonus Points

• Familiarity with the Facer platform or similar smartwatch face platforms.

• Knowledge of the Combine framework for reactive programming.

• Experience with Apple’s CoreGraphics library for custom graphics rendering.

• Experience with WidgetKit on the iPhone side.
